LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Walter F. Weintge, Jr., upon the occa-
sion of being selected as Nassau County's 2013  Senior  Citizen  of  the
Year

WHEREAS,  Senior  citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society;  their  past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to honor Walter F.
Weintge, Jr. upon the occasion of being selected as Nassau County's 2013
Senior Citizen of the Year, in recognition of his  outstanding  contrib-
utions to his community through his valuable and much appreciated volun-
teer work; and
  WHEREAS, As Nassau County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year, Walter F.
Weintge,  Jr. will participate in the Annual New York State Senior Citi-
zens Day Luncheon hosted by the State Office for the  Aging  (SOFA),  at
the Hart Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May 7,
2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Walter  F.  Weintge,  Jr.  dedicates many volunteer hours to
several community programs throughout Nassau County; and
  WHEREAS, Born in Floral Park, New York, Walter F. Weintge  Jr.  earned
his  bachelor's  and master's degrees at New York University, and taught
for 44 years at Uniondale High School; and
  WHEREAS, In 1987, Walter F. Weintge, Jr. started volunteering for  St.
Mary's Children's Hospital, where he found he derived great satisfaction
from working with others; and
  WHEREAS,  Walter  F.  Weintge,  Jr. now volunteers weekly at the North
Hempstead Animal Shelter, the  Garvies  Point  Museum,  United  Cerebral
Palsy, and the Compeer Program of Nassau County; and
  WHEREAS,  A  true  asset  to society, Walter F. Weintge, Jr.'s distin-
guished record merits the recognition and  respectful  tribute  of  this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Walter F. Weintge, Jr., upon the occasion  of  being  selected  as
Nassau County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of the Resolution, suitably engrossed, be trans-
mitted to Walter F. Weintge, Jr.
