LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Fredric M. Harber upon the occasion of
being selected as Nassau County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge  to
the  increasingly  active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  honor  Fredric  M.
Harber  upon  the  occasion  of  being  selected as Nassau County's 2013
Senior Citizen of the Year for  his  outstanding  contributions  to  his
community through his valuable and much appreciated volunteer work; and
  WHEREAS,  As  Nassau County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year, Fredric
M. Harber will participate in the Annual New York State Senior  Citizens
Day  Luncheon  hosted  by  the State Office for the Aging (SOFA), at the
Hart Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York,  on  Tuesday,  May  7,
2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Fredric  M.  Harber  has  been a committed volunteer on many
diverse projects for more than 40 years; and
  WHEREAS, Born in New York, Fredric M. Harber worked  in  the  printing
industry until his retirement in 1995; he is married, and has four sons,
three daughters-in-law and one granddaughter; and
  WHEREAS,  Fredric M. Harber began working with Habitat for Humanity in
2000, and has helped to build homes in Nassau County, New York City, and
the state of Alabama; he traveled to Sri Lanka after the 2004 tsunami to
help those affected; and
  WHEREAS, Since Hurricane Sandy, he has been doing demolition and  mold
clean-up in Long Beach, New York; and
  WHEREAS,  A  true  asset to society, Fredric M. Harber's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Fredric  M.  Harber upon the occasion of being selected as Nassau
County's 2013 New York State Senior Citizen  of  the  Year;  and  be  it
further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Fredric M. Harber.
