LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Child Care
Council of Nassau, Inc., and paying  tribute  to  its  five  outstanding
honorees

WHEREAS,  It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New  York  State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions  and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 40th Anniversary of Child Care Council of Nassau, Inc., and to
pay tribute to its five outstanding honorees;  this  milestone  occasion
was  celebrated  at  the "Four Decades for Children" Anniversary Gala on
Thursday, April 25, 2013, at The Carltun in Eisenhower Park, East  Mead-
ow, New York; and
  WHEREAS, For 40 years, Child Care Council of Nassau, Inc. has provided
critical  services  to families as well as to the providers who care for
their young children; and
  WHEREAS, The five outstanding individuals  recognized  by  Child  Care
Council of Nassau at its gala celebration have not only contributed much
to  its  mission, but are also exemplars of its singular accomplishments
over the course of four triumphant decades; and
  WHEREAS, Gloria Wallick, former Child Care Council of Nassau Executive
Director, is honored posthumously for providing 23  years  of  exemplary
leadership; and
  WHEREAS, Judith Davidson Moyers represents the 1970s, Child Care Coun-
cil  of  Nassau's  startup  decade, and its success in meeting the local
need for child care services; and
  WHEREAS, Janet Walerstein, current Executive Director  of  Child  Care
Council  of  Suffolk,  represents  the  1980s  and Child Care Council of
Nassau's significant impact on public policy; and
  WHEREAS, Valerie McCarthy, who  ably  served  Child  Care  Council  of
Nassau  as  Board President for many years, represents the 1990s and the
strength of its volunteerism and development; and
  WHEREAS, Theresa Regnante, current President and CEO of United Way  of
Long  Island,  represents  the  2000s and Child Care Council of Nassau's
successful building of community partnerships; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that  when  individ-
uals  and  organizations  of  such  noble  aims  and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated  and  recognized  by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Child Care  Council  of  Nassau,
Inc.,  and  to  pay tribute to its five outstanding honorees, as well as
the staff, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to its success
over the decades; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Child Care Council of Nassau, Inc. and the aforementioned
honorees.
