LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Robert  and Lorraine Lohmann upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition by the Poppenhusen
Institute

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note  of  certain
extraordinary  individuals  it  wishes  to  recognize  for  their valued
contributions to the  success  and  progress  of  society  and  publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor
Robert  and  Lorraine Lohmann upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Poppenhusen Institute, to  be  celebrated  at
its Spring Dinner on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in College Point, New York;
and
  WHEREAS,  Robert  Lohmann  was  baptized, confirmed and married at St.
John's Lutheran Church, attended Public School 29,  and  graduated  from
Woodrow  Wilson  High  School; he later joined the United States Marines
and proudly served his country during the Korean War until he was wound-
ed from a mortar attack; and
  WHEREAS, Honorably discharged from the military in November  of  1952,
Robert  Lohmann jubilantly returned to his hometown, College Point; soon
he returned to work at Allboro Tobacco, where he had worked prior to the
war and where he would work until his retirement; and
  WHEREAS, In 1959, Robert Lohmann married the  former  Lorraine  Muzer,
and  they  have  celebrated  54  anniversaries  together;  Lorraine  was
baptized in the First Reformed Church and confirmed and married  at  St.
John's  Lutheran Church; she attended Public School 129 and Jamaica High
School, and  later  attained  her  New  York  State  Insurance  Broker's
license; and
  WHEREAS,  An  employee  of  Suydam  Agency  in College Point, Lorraine
Lohmann retired in 1997 after 42 years in the  insurance  business;  she
later  became  involved with various ministries at her church, including
teaching Sunday school for 21 years, participating in the prayer groups;
and
  WHEREAS,  For  numerous  years  now,  the  Lohmanns  have   generously
supported  the  Poppenhusen  Institute; they are true assets to society;
and
  WHEREAS, Robert and Lorraine Lohmann's distinguished record merits the
recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, there-
fore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor Robert and Lorraine Lohmann upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by the Poppenhusen Institute; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert and Lorraine Lohmann.
