LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending the Rotary Club of Flushing upon the
occasion of its designation for special recognition by  the  Poppenhusen
Institute

WHEREAS,  From  time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary organizations it wishes  to  recognize  for  their  valued
contributions  to  the  success  and  progress  of  society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Rotary Club of Flushing upon the occasion  of  its  designation  for
special  recognition  by  the Poppenhusen Institute, to be celebrated at
its Spring Dinner on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in College Point, New York;
and
  WHEREAS, Established in 1953 and celebrating its 60th  Anniversary  in
2013,  the  Rotary  Club of Flushing provides civic minded professionals
with an enjoyable and organized way to support  its  community  and  the
needy  areas of the world; the Club is a longtime supporter of Poppenhu-
sen Institute; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, the Rotary Club of Flushing is  an  advocate  of
many  community  organizations  such  as  Ronald McDonald House, Bayside
Little League, New York Hospital Queens and Child  Center  of  New  York
just  to  name a few; the Club stands out as a leader, where its members
regularly travel internationally to help alleviate poverty by  providing
housing  support,  access  to clean water, all in support of the Gift of
Life program; and
  WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Flushing also infuses  young  people  with
the community service spirit by spearheading an annual scholarship award
program to local high schools; and
  WHEREAS,  A  true  asset  to  society,  the  Rotary Club of Flushing's
distinguished record merits the recognition and  respectful  tribute  of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Rotary Club of Flushing upon the occasion of its designation
for special recognition by the Poppenhusen Institute; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Rotary Club of Flushing.
