LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Eddie Monroy upon the occasion of his
designation as a 2013 SUNY New Paltz School of  Business  Hall  of  Fame
inductee as Student Leader of the Year, on May 9, 2013

WHEREAS,  It  is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly  acknowledge  individuals  who  have  distinguished  themselves
through  their exemplary accomplishments and service to their community;
and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is justly proud to honor
Eddie Monroy upon the occasion of his designation as  a  2013  SUNY  New
Paltz  School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Student Leader of the
Year; and
  WHEREAS, The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Thurs-
day, May 9, 2013, at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York; and
  WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction, Eddie Monroy has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence,  extraordinary  intelligence  and
diligent  leadership  in  his  unwavering  service  to his community and
consequently has been selected for this most prestigious honor; and
  WHEREAS, Eddie Monroy is a graduate student in the Master of  Business
Administration  program at SUNY New Paltz, with plans to graduate in May
2013; he received a Bachelor of Science degree in management  from  SUNY
New Paltz in 2012; and
  WHEREAS,  Eddie  Monroy  joined  the SUNY New Paltz American Marketing
Association (AMA) in Spring 2011; due to  his  demonstrated  management,
marketing and organizational skills, he was elected executive vice pres-
ident one year later and became president in Fall 2012; and
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  his  years of involvement, the New Paltz AMA was
selected as one of the Top  16  chapters  at  the  annual  International
Collegiate Conference in New Orleans; and
  WHEREAS,  Eddie Monroy showcased his exceptional abilities during 2012
Conference; he conducted two separate workshops  on  chapter  operations
and  promotion,  and  assembled and led a team in the 2011-2012 AMA Case
Competition, earning honorable mention; and
  WHEREAS,  Eddie  Monroy  has  successfully  completed   multiple   AMA
projects, including coordinating the Business Day Conference and Market-
ing  Week  activities,  planning the summer board retreat and completing
the group's annual plan; and
  WHEREAS, The New Paltz AMA's extraordinary success is a direct  result
of  Eddie  Monroy's hard work and strong focus; his leadership abilities
have earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow  board  members
and peers; and
  WHEREAS,  Eddie Monroy has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
  WHEREAS, Eddie Monroy, along with three of his peers,  researched  and
developed  an  innovative business plan for a business that will convert
local farmers' dairy waste into a source of renewable  energy  to  power
homes and businesses in the Mid-Hudson Valley, winning the 2012 Business
Plan Contest; and
  WHEREAS,  In  turn, Eddie Monroy and a teammate shared the skills they
acquired through the contest by developing  a  two-session  training  to
teach  Business HOPE participants, local area women who want to start or
expand their own small businesses, how to  write  key  components  of  a
business plan; and

  WHEREAS,  Committed  to success in his chosen profession, Eddie Monroy
has completed two internships,  and  began  consulting  for  Educate  to
Envision, an international non-profit, in Fall 2012; and
  WHEREAS,  In  recognition  of his contributions of in-depth magnitude,
Eddie Monroy was awarded the Ulster Savings Bank  Scholarship  in  2010,
and  received the SUNY New Paltz President's Outstanding Graduate Award,
as well as the School of Business Outstanding Service Award, 2012; and
  WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Eddie Monroy plans to work in the  financial
service sector, primarily in the area of investment banking; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought  to  our  atten-
tion,  they  should  be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Eddie  Monroy upon the occasion of his designation as a 2013 SUNY
New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Student Leader  of
the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eddie Monroy.
