LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Frederick J. Mader Jr. upon the occasion
of being selected as Franklin County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year

WHEREAS,  Senior  citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society;  their  past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Frederick J.
Mader Jr. upon the occasion of being selected as Franklin County's  2013
Senior  Citizen  of  the Year, in recognition of his invaluable contrib-
utions to the community through his outstanding, and  much  appreciated,
volunteer work; and
  WHEREAS, As Franklin County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year, Freder-
ick  J.  Mader  Jr. will participate in the Annual New York State Senior
Citizens Day Luncheon, hosted by the State Office for the Aging  (SOFA),
at the Hart Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May
7, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Frederick  J.  Mader  Jr. is a 1956 graduate of Paul Smith's
College, where he earned an associate's degree in Hotel  Management;  he
married in 1958, and raised his family in Saranac Lake where he has been
a lifetime resident; and
  WHEREAS, Frederick J. Mader has been committed to serving his communi-
ty through volunteerism his entire adult life; and
  WHEREAS,  Frederick J. Mader volunteered at Walter Reed Medical Center
during the Korean War; he became an ordained Deacon in  his  Diocese  in
1980,  later  becoming  the Chaplain in the Federal Bureau of Prisons at
Ray Brook; he has also generously donated his time to many organizations
in his region, including the Community Lunch  Box,  Saranac  Lake  Adult
Center,  HOSPICE,  Mercy  Care, the Community Store, and Literacy Volun-
teers; and
  WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Frederick J.  Mader's  distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Frederick J. Mader Jr. upon the  occasion  of  being  selected  as
Franklin County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Frederick J. Mader Jr.
