LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Ann  Waite upon the occasion of being
selected as Washington County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge  to
the  increasingly  active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ann Waite upon
the occasion of being selected as Washington County's 2013 Senior  Citi-
zen  of  the Year, in recognition of her invaluable contributions to the
community through her outstanding, and much appreciated, volunteer work;
and
  WHEREAS, As Washington County's 2013 Senior Citizen of the  Year,  Ann
Waite  will participate in the Annual New York State Senior Citizens Day
Luncheon, hosted by the State Office for the Aging (SOFA), at  the  Hart
Theatre  Lounge  in  the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013;
and
  WHEREAS, Ann Waite was born in Glens Falls, New York, and has  resided
in  Washington County for all but eight years of her life; she worked as
a stay-at-home mother for 25 years while also running a beef farm,  and,
after  raising her family, enjoyed many careers; she is the proud mother
of four children, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and
  WHEREAS, Ann Waite has been an active  volunteer  in  and  around  her
community for most of her life; and
  WHEREAS, Ann Waite is currently the President of the Washington County
Senior Citizens Club, and is also the President of the Whitehall Seniors
Club;  among other organizations, she has generously donated her time to
the Washington County CARES Aging and Disabilities Resource Center; and
  WHEREAS, A true asset to society,  Ann  Waite's  distinguished  record
merits  the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Ann Waite upon the occasion of being selected as Washington Coun-
ty's 2013 Senior Citizen of the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann Waite.
