LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Rudolph
Henry  Kasper  Memorial Post No. 18, AMVETS, East Islip, New York, to be
celebrated on May 18, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and support
the purposeful cause of the AMVETS, recognizing its long  and  sustained
commitment to the principles of democracy and freedom so revered by this
State and Nation; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Rudolph Henry Kasper Memorial Post No. 18,
AMVETS, East Islip, New York, to be celebrated on May 18, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The Rudolph Henry Kasper Memorial Post No. 18 is a local post
of  American Veterans (AMVETS) comprised of a group of men and women who
are joined together by the common bond of serving the country they love;
its goal is to continue its efforts of  providing  various  services  to
veterans and its community as a whole; and
  WHEREAS,  Chartered the Rudolph Henry Kasper Memorial Post No. 18, the
Post was named after Rudolph Henry Kasper, a soldier who served  in  the
United  States Army during World War II; originally from the Islip area,
he was killed in action on June 12, 1944; and
  WHEREAS, The Rudolph Henry Kasper Memorial Post No. 18  provides  many
services,  including  volunteering  at  the VA Hospital, running various
activities for hospitalized veterans, preparing food  baskets  for  both
needy  families  and senior citizen brunches, presenting scholarships to
school children, and supporting the Women's Coalition for battered women
and children; and
  WHEREAS, Rudolph Henry Kasper Memorial Post No. 18 is  a  noble  post,
accomplishing  its  mission and performing its good deeds in a spirit of
comradeship true to the highest traditions of AMVETS; and
  WHEREAS, Mindful of its proud and honored history, the  Rudolph  Henry
Kasper  Memorial  Post  No. 18, AMVETS may celebrate with just pride and
true honor, its 50th Anniversary of service to  its  community  and  the
needs and causes of veterans across New York State and the nation; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom  of this Legislative Body to commend the
devoted leadership of past and present, and the absolute  commitment  of
its  many  proud  members,  noting  the  role played by this exceptional
organization and recognizing the significance of the  contributions  and
sacrifices of its membership; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Rudolph Henry Kasper  Memorial  Post
No.  18,  AMVETS, East Islip, New York, fully confident that the quality
and character of life in the Empire State  remains  richly  endowed  and
resolutely  defended  through  such organizations of just cause and good
purpose; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rudolph Henry Kasper  Memorial  Post  No.  18,  AMVETS,  East
Islip, New York.
