LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  the  Patchogue  Kiwanis Club upon the
occasion of celebrating its 75th Anniversary on May 11, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New  York  State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions  and  individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
  WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative  Body  to  recognize
and  pay  tribute  to  those fraternal organizations of high purpose and
worthy accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare
of the citizens of the State of New York; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Patchogue Kiwanis Club upon the occasion of celebrating its  75th  Anni-
versary; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the Club's Char-
ter Night Dinner, to be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Kiwanis  is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to
changing the world, one child and one community at a time; and
  WHEREAS, The six permanent objects of Kiwanis  International  are  to:
give  primacy  to  the  human  and spiritual rather than to the material
values of life; encourage the daily living of the  Golden  Rule  in  all
human  relationships; promote the adoption and the application of higher
social, business, and professional standards; develop,  by  precept  and
example,  a  more  intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship;
provide, through Kiwanis clubs,  a  practical  means  to  form  enduring
friendships,  to render altruistic service, and to build better communi-
ties; and cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public  opin-
ion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness,
justice, patriotism, and goodwill; and
  WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Patchogue, New York, was chartered on May
5,  1938 and was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Freeport, New York; it
will celebrate its 75th Anniversary on May 11, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The mission statement of the Kiwanis Club of  Patchogue,  New
York,  is  "Through camaraderie, leadership, and teamwork of our members
with a focus on children, we serve the needs of our  community  and  the
goals of Kiwanis International"; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Club's  vision  statement  is, "We will be the premiere
service club in the community providing quality service,  especially  to
children,  while  building  upon  our traditions and through the partic-
ipation and teamwork of our dedicated membership"; and
  WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a  unique  opportunity  for
this  Legislative  Body  to  recognize  and pay tribute to the Patchogue
Kiwanis Club; and
  WHEREAS, Organizations of singular distinction such as  the  Patchogue
Kiwanis  Club  provide  a model for enhancing the quality of life in the
community and, as such, merit the grateful praise of  the  community  of
the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Patchogue Kiwanis Club.
