LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION honoring John B. Johnson Jr. after many years of
distinguished service as CEO of JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS, and  as  Editor  and
co-Publisher of the WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES

WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the  stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
  WHEREAS,  This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John B. John-
son Jr. after many years of distinguished  service  as  CEO  of  JOHNSON
NEWSPAPERS, and as Editor and co-Publisher of the WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES;
and
  WHEREAS,  As  CEO of JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS and Editor and co-Publisher of
the WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES, John B. Johnson Jr.  played  an  instrumental
role  in  telling  the North Country's story and informing readers about
important issues, events and people; and
  WHEREAS, Through his affinity for journalism and belief in the  future
of  the  region,  John  B. Johnson Jr. used the WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES to
stand up for Northern New York; and
  WHEREAS, He worked tirelessly on issues such as the expansion of  Fort
Drum  as well as countless other initiatives to promote and improve life
in Upstate New York; and
  WHEREAS, Under John B. Johnson Jr.'s leadership, the  WATERTOWN  DAILY
TIMES maintained and continued its reputation for excellence in journal-
ism; and
  WHEREAS, Through his continued involvement in the community, his writ-
ing  of editorials, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Johnson
Newspaper Corporation, John B. Johnson Jr. will continue to utilize  his
journalistic  skills  and knowledge of the North Country for the overall
betterment of the community; and
  WHEREAS, John B. Johnson  Jr.  rendered  faithful,  conscientious  and
valuable  service to both the JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS and the WATERTOWN DAILY
TIMES, and served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
  WHEREAS, In his official acts, John B. Johnson Jr. was governed  by  a
keen  sense  of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection  of  his  colleagues;  now,
therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John B. Johnson Jr. after many years of distinguished  service  as
CEO  of JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS, and as Editor and co-Publisher of the WATER-
TOWN DAILY TIMES; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John B. Johnson Jr.
