LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION honoring Chaplains Christoph Arnold, Peter Vian-
ney, and Joel Gold upon the occasion of their  designation  for  Special
Recognition by the Police Chiefs Association of Ulster County

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
distinguished  clergy  who  devote  themselves  to serving those such as
Police Officers who protect others and  demonstrate  great  courage  and
diligence in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and
  WHEREAS,  Within  every  community  of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment  and  dedication,
command  the  respect  and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
  WHEREAS, These distinguished men of God  have  always  given  enlight-
enment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to their care and have
administered  abundantly  and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal
needs of the members of the Police Chiefs Association of  Ulster  County
and the law enforcement officers who serve throughout Ulster County, New
York; and
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to honor Chaplains
Christoph Arnold, Peter Vianney, and Joel  Gold  upon  the  occasion  of
their  designation  for Special Recognition by the Police Chiefs Associ-
ation of Ulster County at its Law Enforcement Awards Banquet  which  was
held  at the Diamond Mills and Tavern in Saugerties, New York, on May 5,
2013; and
  WHEREAS, Chaplains Christoph Arnold, Peter Vianney, and Joel Gold  are
the  spiritual  guides  who  are  there to help the police officers, the
helpers; for police officers, a day at work  does  not  have  boundaries
such  as  hours,  weather, or day of the week, nor do they decide who is
entitled to the services police provide; and
  WHEREAS, The police officer sees and serves all, 24  hours  a  day,  7
days  a  week,  365  days a year; they are there for everything from the
barking dog complaint in the middle of the night to the death scene they
remember too many times a day, knowing full well that the next one might
be worse; and
  WHEREAS, When police officers have tragedies in their lives it is  not
always  easy  to share their situations with coworkers or anyone else in
their field of work; their chaplains know police officers are  not  easy
souls  to  guide but they take that responsibility on regardless, asking
nothing in return; and
  WHEREAS, Chaplains Christoph Arnold, Peter Vianney, and Joel Gold  are
there  when  police  officers  suffer  the  loss of a coworker, a family
member or a friend; when police officers experience  a  horrific  event,
they  are  there with a prayer, a handshake, a shoulder to lean on or an
ear to listen with; and
  WHEREAS, Chaplains Christoph Arnold, Peter Vianney, and Joel Gold pray
for the safety of the officers and for their sanity; they give the offi-
cers the courage and reinforcement needed to continue in their endeavors
as peacekeepers and  protectors  of  their  community;  and,  they  just
continue  doing  God's work to keep the officers going when the going is
rough; and
  WHEREAS,  Chaplain  Christoph  Arnold,  Chaplain  Peter  Vianney   and
Chaplain  Joel Gold have taken on a tough road and paved it smoothly for
Ulster County police officers for many years; their service is priceless
and much appreciated, and is never taken for granted; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  dedicated
chaplains  such as Chaplain Christoph Arnold, Chaplain Peter Vianney and

Chaplain Joel Gold, distinguished men of God, have always given enlight-
enment, guidance and wisdom to those entrusted to their  care  and  have
administered  abundantly  and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal
needs of the police officers they serve so well and so unselfishly; now,
therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chaplain Christoph Arnold, Chaplain  Peter  Vianney  and  Chaplain
Joel  Gold,  who are worthy and due full praise for their commitment and
noble endeavors; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted  to  Chaplain  Christoph  Arnold,  Chaplain  Peter  Vianney  and
Chaplain Joel Gold.
