LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION commending Our Lady of Mercy High School Library
upon the occasion of being designated Honorable Mention by The Rochester
Regional Library Council

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that  the
quality  and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York  is  reflective  of  certain  exemplary  institutions  whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
Our  Lady of Mercy High School Library upon the occasion of being desig-
nated Honorable Mention by the Rochester Regional Library Council, to be
celebrated at the Council's Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday,  June
6, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
  WHEREAS,  RRLC  provides  programs  and  services  that enhance member
library cooperation, service delivery and resource sharing,  and  serves
as  a  forum for the unified representation of library interests helping
members achieve together what could not be achieved separately; and
  WHEREAS, Through RRLC, its members can  coordinate  and  relate  their
diverse activities to create a more effective service network to improve
information  access  for  the people of the Rochester region and beyond;
and
  WHEREAS, Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women's Library serves 690
students from grades 6-12, and is available  each  day  to  support  the
school's diverse population; and
  WHEREAS,  The  library  media  specialist  at  Our  Lady Of Mercy, Kim
Rouleau, has infused research and information literacy skills into  core
curricula  by  partnering  with  classroom  teachers; not only does this
library program support school curriculum, but  encourages  students  to
read  for  personal  enjoyment, become involved in community events, and
take ownership of their library by volunteering and serving on a library
advisory group; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an  insti-
tution  of  such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of  this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Our Lady of Mercy High School Library upon the  occasion  of
being  designated  Honorable  Mention  by the Rochester Regional Library
Council; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Our Lady of Mercy High School Library.
