LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the MetroCenter Library of The College
at  Brockport  upon the occasion of being selected as the 2013 Rochester
Regional Library Council's Academic Library of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that  the
quality  and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York  is  reflective  of  certain  exemplary  institutions  whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
the MetroCenter Library of The College at Brockport upon the occasion of
being selected as the 2013 Rochester Regional Library Council's Academic
Library of the Year, to be celebrated at the Council's Annual Membership
Meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
  WHEREAS,  RRLC  provides  programs  and  services  that enhance member
library cooperation, service delivery and resource sharing,  and  serves
as  a  forum for the unified representation of library interests helping
members achieve together what could not be achieved separately; and
  WHEREAS, Through RRLC, its members can  coordinate  and  relate  their
diverse activities to create a more effective service network to improve
information  access  for  the people of the Rochester region and beyond;
and
  WHEREAS, The MetroCenter is an extension  center  of  The  College  at
Brockport's  main  campus  in  Brockport,  New York, and is conveniently
located in the heart of downtown Rochester, New York; and
  WHEREAS, The MetroCenter offers more than 100 courses in  both  under-
graduate  and  graduate programs each semester, and accommodates working
adults by offering the majority of classes in the evenings and on  week-
ends; and
  WHEREAS,  The students of The College at Brockport credit not only the
MetroCenter Library for their  academic  success,  but  Librarian  Linda
Hacker,  whom  the  students consider to be a mentor, coach, and friend;
and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an  organ-
ization  of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of  this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the MetroCenter Library of The College  at  Brockport  upon  the
occasion  of being selected as the 2013 Rochester Regional Library Coun-
cil's Academic Library of the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the MetroCenter Library of The College at Brockport.
