LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Dr. Dong-Gi Hong upon the occasion of
his retirement after more than 40 years of distinguished service to  the
Wayne County community

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers  of  esteemed  resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor  Dr.
Dong-Gi  Hong  upon  the  occasion  of his retirement after more than 40
years of distinguished service to the Wayne County community; and
  WHEREAS, A resident of Lyons, New York, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong  has  been  a
member  of  the  medical  staff at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital since
1972; he was in private practice in Lyons  until  1998  when  he  joined
Rochester  General  Medical  Group;  he  has  also worked as the medical
director of the DeMay Living Center in Newark; and
  WHEREAS, Officially retiring on December 14, 2012,  Dr.  Dong-Gi  Hong
has  worked tirelessly to advance the standard of patient care as one of
the first internists in Wayne County; he is a  native  of  Seoul,  South
Korea, where he went to Yonsei University College of Medicine; and
  WHEREAS, Having always aspired to be a doctor, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong worked
for  three  years  in  the  South Korean Air Force and later came to the
United States in 1967; he did his residency at the University of  Boston
Medical  Center  and then moved to Lyons because he wanted the challenge
of a rural practice and continued to make house calls long after it went
out of fashion; and
  WHEREAS, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong now plans to move to New Jersey and become a
medical volunteer for a large Korean church and travel  with  his  wife,
Ae-Soon  to  Israel  and Egypt, as well as spend quality time with other
family members; and
  WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong  rendered  faithful,
conscientious  and valuable service to the Wayne County community, earn-
ing the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
  WHEREAS, In his capacity as a medical doctor, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong  served
with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty  and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official
acts; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that  when  individ-
uals  of  such  noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all  the  citizens  of
the great State of New York; and
  WHEREAS,  A  true  asset  to society, Dr. Dong-Gi Hong's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Dr.  Dong-Gi  Hong upon the occasion of his retirement after more
than 40 years of distinguished service to the  Wayne  County  community;
and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Dong-Gi Hong.
