Honoring Robert McBride for 24 years of distinguished service to the Edward Smith Mineola Lions Club

LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Robert McBride for 24 years of distin-
guished service to the Edward Smith Mineola Lions Club

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity  and  character
who  have  inspired  and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is justly proud to honor
Robert McBride for 24 years of distinguished service to the Edward Smith
Mineola Lions Club, to be celebrated on Thursday, May 30, 2013,  at  the
North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, New York; and
  WHEREAS,  This  special  event  is also the Edward Smith Mineola Lions
Club's Ninth Annual A Taste of the Grape Benefit which will support  the
organization's  many  charitable causes, including The Brookville Center
for Children's Services (AHRC) Autism Program; and
  WHEREAS, Robert McBride, a resident of Dix Hills, has  been  an  exem-
plary  member  of  the  Edward  Smith Mineola Lions Club for the past 24
years; and
  WHEREAS, After earning his Business  Administration  degree  from  the
State  University  of New York, his career began when he took possession
of a small, New York-based ground transportation company in 1982; within
15 years, he turned it into the largest and most successful operation in
the region; and
  WHEREAS, Robert McBride sold the successful  franchise  in  2000,  and
today  operates  a  company based in Denver, Colorado, distinguished for
its environmentally friendly fleet of hybrid vehicles; and
  WHEREAS, Robert McBride became Vice President of  Park  Strategies  in
2003;  he  provides  counsel in strategic and tactical areas of business
development and public policy for clients  in  real  estate,  pharmaceu-
ticals, investment banking, waste management, and health care; and
  WHEREAS,  An avid volunteer, Robert McBride is also recognized for his
service to the community; he has served on the boards  of  The  Leukemia
Society,  the  Education  and  Assistance Corporation, and Long Island's
United Way; and
  WHEREAS, In 2010, Robert McBride was awarded Citizen of  the  Year  by
the New York Grand Lodge Foundation Sons of Italy, as well as the Favor-
ite  Son  Award  from  the  Friendly  Sons of Saint Patrick Long Island;
previous honors include recognitions from The Irish Americans in Govern-
ment, Helen Keller Services for the Blind, and the National  Center  for
the Furtherance of Jewish Education; and
  WHEREAS,  With  him  throughout  has  been his loving wife Marion, who
feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in  his  achieve-
ments; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought  to  our  atten-
tion,  they  should  be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor Robert McBride for 24 years of distinguished service to the Edward
Smith Mineola Lions Club; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert McBride.
