LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kelly Mittiga upon the occasion of
receiving the 2012 Athena Award from the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kelly Mittiga upon the occasion of receiving the 2012 Athena Award from
the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated on Thursday,
September 13, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Geneva area Athena Awards annual ceremony owes much of
its tremendous success to the great work and dedication of Kelly Mittiga
who oversaw the entire event for a number of years; she is a genuine
leader in the Geneva community and continually has gone far beyond her
personal responsibilities of raising a family along with corporate
duties in senior management of a major banking institution; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Mittiga has also volunteered her time to extremely
important projects and institutions to help make life better in the
central Finger Lakes region; it was through her leadership that the
Geneva Community Center was constructed, along with her work as former
President of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce which led to the development
of a new Visitors Center and Boating Museum; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Mittiga is now actively involved as a board member of
two critically important organizations, the Finger Lakes Health Systems
and the Ontario County Industrial Development Authority; both these
organizations are critical to the Geneva Area region's future, and her
commitment to them underscores the depth of her commitment to Geneva as
wall as the entire central Finger Lakes area; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, New
York, Kelly Mittiga is affiliated with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce,
the Boys and Girls Club of Geneva, Finger Lakes Health, Ontario County
IDA, and the Geneva 2020 Committee; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kelly Mittiga upon the occasion of receiving the 2012 Athena Award
from the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kelly Mittiga.
