LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Investigator George V. Grbic upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commen-
dation Award on May 16, 2013

WHEREAS, The quality  and  sanctity  of  community  life  are  cherished
values,  worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those who preserve and protect such values, lauding  particularly  their
unwavering  courage  and  dedication  in  the daily performance of their
duties; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to  honor  Investigator
George  V. Grbic, of Troop E in Waterloo, New York, upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation  Award
to  be  celebrated  at the 37th Annual New York State Police Superinten-
dent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony on May 16, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, A member of the New York State  Police  since  May  4,  1998,
Investigator  George  V.  Grbic  will  receive this prestigious award in
recognition of his outstanding police work; and
  WHEREAS, On January 14, 2012, Investigator George V. Grbic, along with
a fellow officer, was clearing from a call in  Marion,  New  York,  when
they  were advised smoke appeared to be coming from an apartment above a
local business; without hesitation, they immediately entered  the  smoke
engulfed apartment and pulled an unconscious man to safety; and
  WHEREAS,  Investigator George V. Grbic's astute actions and courageous
rescue prevented a tragedy on that day; and
  WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the New  York  State
Police,  Investigator  George  V. Grbic has distinguished himself by his
exemplary achievement and  outstanding  performance  on  behalf  of  the
community he so faithfully and courageously serves; and
  WHEREAS,  The  dedicated  efforts of public servants, such as Investi-
gator George V. Grbic, who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of and the protection of others are worthy of the full praise  of
this  Legislative  Body  and  the  people of the State of New York; now,
therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Investigator George V. Grbic upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the Superintendent's  Commendation  Award  at  the  37th
Annual  New  York  State Police Superintendent's Commendation and Awards
Day Ceremony on May 16, 2013; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Investigator George V. Grbic.
