LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Emily Schaufeld, a senior at Great
Neck South High School, upon the occasion of completing her 13th year of
perfect attendance

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its  long-standing  traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the  ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative Body is proud to congratulate Emily Schau-
feld, a senior at Great Neck South High School,  upon  the  occasion  of
completing her 13th year of perfect attendance; and
  WHEREAS,  While  a student in third grade, Emily Schaufeld decided her
goal was to never miss a day of school; beginning  in  kindergarten  and
continuing  through  her senior year, this extraordinary student was not
deterred by sickness, weather, or  family  vacation,  and  completed  13
years of perfect attendance; and
  WHEREAS,  Emily Schaufeld, daughter of Robert and Caryn Schaufeld, has
a true passion for television and theater; she  has  written,  directed,
and  acted  in  numerous  productions at Levels Teen Center in the Great
Neck Public Library; and
  WHEREAS, An active member of her school and community, this remarkable
young woman is co-captain of the Hot Lunch Improv Troupe at  Great  Neck
South  High  School,  and has directed, acted, and stage managed several
school productions for Theater South; she is actively involved in  Great
Neck/North Shore Public Access Television, and in 2012, won an award for
directing a live show; and
  WHEREAS,  In  addition,  this exemplary young woman is a member of the
Gay Straight  Alliance  Club,  American  Sign  Language  Club,  Students
Against  Drunk Driving (SADD), Pay it Forward, and the Great Neck Public
Film Crew; and
  WHEREAS, In the Fall, Emily  Schaufeld  will  be  attending  New  York
University's Tisch School of the Arts: Kanbar Institute of Undergraduate
Film and Television, one of the premier film programs in the world; and
  WHEREAS,  Poised  eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Emily  Schaufeld  upon the occasion of completing her 13th
year of perfect attendance; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emily Schaufeld.
