LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  Gail  and Harvey Marchbein upon the
occasion of their designation as the recipients of the Keter Torah Award
at the Jericho Jewish Center's 2013 Gala Evening of Tribute on  June  3,
2013

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Empire State is great-
ly  enriched  by  the  faithful and generous service of those who devote
themselves to endeavors of family, faith and community; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative  Body  to  recognize  and
commend  individuals  of such magnanimous conduct and bearing who demon-
strate a deep and continuing  concern  for  others,  and  in  so  doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is  the  intent  of  this  Legislative  Body  to
commend Gail and Harvey Marchbein upon the occasion of their designation
as  the  recipients  of  the  Keter  Torah  Award  at the Jericho Jewish
Center's 2013 Gala Evening of Tribute to be held at the Center  on  June
3, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The Jericho Jewish Center is a true center of Jewish communal
life,  serving  the religious, educational and social needs of the young
and old of the Jericho community; and
  WHEREAS, On the joyous occasion of its Gala  Evening  of  Tribute  the
Jericho  Jewish Center will proudly honor Gail and Harvey Marchbein with
its Keter Torah Award; and
  WHEREAS, Harvey and Gail were born in Brooklyn, New  York;  they  were
both  raised  in  Queens  and attended Queens College where they met and
fell in love; they were married in  1973  and,  while  Harvey  Marchbein
attended  the  Medical  College  of Wisconsin, Gail taught Middle School
mathematics; and
  WHEREAS, Harvey completed his medical training in Obstetrics and Gyne-
cology at North Shore University Hospital; he is an  Assistant  Clinical
Professor  at Hofstra-North Shore/LIJ School of Medicine and is a member
of both the Nassau County and the State of New York Medical Societies as
well as a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecol-
ogy and the American College of Surgeons; and
  WHEREAS, Harvey practices at Preferred Women's Health, a  division  of
Women's  Health  Professionals, LLP with offices in Great Neck and Wood-
bury, New York and is the Director of the Newborn  Circumcision  Service
at both North Shore and Long Island Jewish Hospitals; and
  WHEREAS,  In 2012 Harvey was awarded the prestigious National Teaching
Award from the American College of OBGYN and the Committee  on  Resident
Education and, he has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in his
field by several organizations; and
  WHEREAS,  Harvey  Marchbein  is very proud and committed to his Jewish
heritage and thanks to Rabbi  Marvin  Richardson  he  became  a  trained
Mohel;  he is also the Co-Chairperson of the Ritual Committee at Jericho
Jewish Center where he has also served as the Chairperson of  the  Board
of Trustees; and
  WHEREAS,  Gail  Marchbein  is  a  member  of the Jericho Jewish Center
Sisterhood and is a Torah Fund Benefactor; she also served on the  Jeri-
cho  Jewish  Center's  Board of Trustees; she is, in addition, an active
member of Hadassah, serving as the Sagamore Hill Chapter  President  and
holding many other board positions; and
  WHEREAS,  On  the Regional level, Gail has served as Chairwoman of the
Myrtle Wreath Award Reception and as the Nassau Region Membership  Coor-
dinator  and  the  Marchbeins  are founders of the Hadassah Mother-Child
Pavilion and of the new Hadassah Emergency Center; and

  WHEREAS, Gail enjoys her busy full-time and a half career as an  Asso-
ciate  Broker  with Coach Realtors, where for sixteen years she has been
the top selling agent in her office, as well as  one  of  the  five  top
producers in her 650 agent company; and
  WHEREAS, Harvey and Gail Marchbein are most proud to be the parents of
Aliza,  Adam,  and Elizabeth, newlyweds Shari and Jake, and their canine
child Shayna; and
  WHEREAS, The Marchbeins have been active members of the Jericho Jewish
Center since 1985 and are appreciative of being named  the  Keter  Torah
Award honorees of 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Throughout the course of their service to the Jericho Jewish
Center and their community, Gail and  Harvey  Marchbein  have  exhibited
uncommon  valor  and  wisdom; their involvement and leadership have been
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm,  and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all their endeavors; and
  WHEREAS,  Gail  and Harvey Marchbein are sincerely devoted members and
leaders of the Jericho Jewish Center and  their  community  as  well  as
generous supporters of many worthy programs and causes at the Center and
in the community; and
  WHEREAS,  This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to Gail and Harvey Marchbein for their dedication and  commitment
to their community and their heritage; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute  to  Gail and Harvey Marchbein upon the occasion of their desig-
nation as the recipients of the Keter Torah Award at the Jericho  Jewish
Center's 2013 Gala Evening of Tribute on June 3, 2013; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gail and Harvey Marchbein.
