Mourning the death of Suzanne A. Oppenheimer, distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community

LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  mourning  the  death of Suzanne A. Oppenheimer,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body  to  pay  tribute  to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
  WHEREAS, Suzanne A. Oppenheimer of Rockville Centre, New York, died on
Sunday, May 19, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, This remarkable woman distinguished herself  by  her  sincere
dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community;
  WHEREAS,  A  long-time  member  and  Secretary of the Rockville Centre
Club, Suzanne A. Oppenheimer was an  incomparable  community  volunteer;
she  was  also  active in Central Synagogue of Nassau County, and served
both the Rockville Centre  school  district  and  the  Rockville  Centre
Village Board in a number of capacities; and
  WHEREAS,  In  addition, Suzanne A. Oppenheimer was a regular inspector
at general  elections,  school  district  elections  and  village  Board
elections; and
  WHEREAS,  Suzanne  A.  Oppenheimer's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,  includ-
ing charitable and civic endeavors; and
  WHEREAS,  She  will be fondly remembered as a good friend, a diligent,
reliable and resourceful volunteer, and a person  who  truly  loved  her
community of Rockville Centre; and
  WHEREAS,  Predeceased  by her husband, Richard A. Oppenheimer, Suzanne
A.  Oppenheimer is survived by her two children, Edward Oppenheimer  and
Jill  Berman;  and four grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathon, Andrew and Eric;
  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued  with  a  sense  of
compassion,  Suzanne  Oppenheimer leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she knew and befriended; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
mourn  the  death  of  Suzanne A. Oppenheimer, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of her community; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Suzanne A. Oppenheimer.
