LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  Stop  Tripping of Queens, New York,
upon the occasion of its Awards Banquet on July 20, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that  the
quality  and  character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of  the  community
and its citizenry; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
Stop  Tripping  of  Queens,  New  York,  upon the occasion of its Awards
Banquet; this auspicious event will be celebrated on Saturday, July  20,
2013,  at  Thomasina Catering Hall, 20535 Linden Boulevard, Jamaica, New
York; and
  WHEREAS, Stop Tripping  is  a  non-profit  organization  in  Southeast
Queens founded by Visionary Ericka Riggins-Brown; and
  WHEREAS, The mission of Stop Tripping is to: empower young people with
spiritual,  physical  and  emotional guidance; foster stronger bonds and
create a safe haven for troubled teens, displaced  youth  and  misguided
young adults; and
  WHEREAS,  Young people in this day and time are faced with many obsta-
cles:  peer pressure; molestation; rape; mental, physical and  emotional
abuse;  abandonment; and drug and substance abuse; Stop Tripping strives
to prepare young people for adulthood with a positive world view; and
  WHEREAS, At its Awards Banquet on July 20, 2013, Stop Tripping will be
honoring eight young people who have faced enormous challenges and  come
out victorious; and
  WHEREAS,  This  auspicious  occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Stop  Tripping  of
Queens, New York; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
organizations  such as Stop Tripping of Queens, New York, which serve to
bring people together  for  the  united  purpose  of  actively  pursuing
improvements in their communities; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Stop Tripping of Queens, New York,  upon  the  occasion  of  its
Awards Banquet; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stop Tripping of Queens, New York.
