LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  the  Glen  Oaks Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, Inc. upon the occasion of its 40th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize  and  pay
tribute  to  organizations  within  the  State of New York which provide
vital emergency medical rescue services; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. upon the occasion  of  its
40th  Anniversary,  to  be celebrated on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the
Douglaston Manor in Douglaston, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Since 1973, the  Glen  Oaks  Volunteer  Ambulance  Corps  has
responded to medical emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
  WHEREAS, Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps was founded by a group of
10  caring,  community  minded  individuals, who wanted to assure that a
local community based ambulance service would continue to  be  available
to  their neighbors; the organization is a New York State not-for-profit
corporation, providing community volunteer EMS/Ambulance Service; and
  WHEREAS, The corps services all  or  parts  of  the  Northeast  Queens
Communities of Bellerose, Glen Oaks, Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Oakland
Gardens, and North Shore Towers; it maintains mutual aid agreements with
surrounding community volunteer corps in the New York City area and is a
participant  in  the  Regional  EMS Council of NYC - FDNY/EMS mutual aid
plan; and
  WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care  dramatically  improves  the
survival  and  recovery  rate  of those who experience sudden illness or
injury; throughout the 40-year history of the Glen Oaks Volunteer  Ambu-
lance Corps, its members have worked tirelessly to bring the best quali-
ty  of  care to the residents of Glen Oaks, New York and its surrounding
communities; and
  WHEREAS, The Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps has proudly  provided
Emergency  Medical Services to the community for 40 years; from the days
of simple First Aid in the back of  an  ambulance  to  the  most  modern
sophistication of today's Advanced Life Support, the Glen Oaks Volunteer
Ambulance  Corps  responds  to calls for EMS assistance whenever needed;
and
  WHEREAS, All the individuals associated with the Glen  Oaks  Volunteer
Ambulance  Corps,  past  and present, merit the highest commendation for
their contributions to the noble missions of this life-saving  organiza-
tion; and
  WHEREAS,  It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to  our  atten-
tion,  they  should  be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commend  the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. upon the occasion
of its 40th Anniversary; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc.
