LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commemorating  the 125th Anniversary of Croghan
Meat Market

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor  those  busi-
nesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves through
outstanding  professional behavior and enduring commitment to the commu-
nity; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 125th Anniversary of Croghan Meat Market; and
  WHEREAS, Ms. Blaine E. Campany, whose great-grandfather, Elmer "Buddy"
Campany, purchased the market and the original recipe for Croghan Bolog-
na in 1919, recently took over as general  manager  at  the  century-old
store in the heart of downtown Croghan; and
  WHEREAS, Blaine Campany is buying the business from her parents, plant
owners  John  M.  and Charmaine V. Campany; the move comes at a historic
time for the Lewis County favorite as 2013 is also  the  market's  125th
year in operation, including the past 94 by the Campany family; and
  WHEREAS,  Just  in  her  first year, Blaine Campany has worked hard to
make valuable connections with other local business  owners,  secured  a
seat on the Board of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, and graduated
from the Chamber's Lewis County Leadership Academy; and
  WHEREAS,  Blaine Campany earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Brock-
port, where she majored in recreation leisure with an emphasis in  tour-
ism  management,  as well as receiving her minor in business management;
  WHEREAS, In a typical week, Croghan Meat Market  produces  3,000  one-
pound rings of bologna, doubling output just before Thanksgiving through
New  Year's  Day; fresh bologna is made Mondays and Thursdays along with
fresh local cheese curd; and
  WHEREAS, Businesses such as Croghan Meat Market exert a strong,  posi-
tive  influence  on the communities they serve and are a crucial element
in the economy of New York State; and
  WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the successes of Croghan Meat  Market,  recognizing  its  contrib-
utions  to  the  local  and  State  economies, and extending its highest
commendation to the business and its employees, fully confident that  it
will  continue  to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus
far; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commemorate  the  125th  Anniversary  of  Croghan Meat Market; and be it
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Blaine E. Campany.
