LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bruce J. DeShay upon the occasion of his
retirement  after  33  years of distinguished service in executive posi-
tions in the electrical industry

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of  their  community
and the needs of its residents; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor
Bruce  J.  DeShay  upon the occasion of his retirement after 33 years of
distinguished service in executive positions in the electrical industry;
and
  WHEREAS, Bruce J. DeShay was appointed Executive Secretary Manager  of
the Association of Electrical Contractors on January 1, 2008, and, since
1993,  he  has  also served as Assistant Chapter Manager of the New York
City Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association; and
  WHEREAS, From 1993 until 2007, he worked in conjunction with  the  New
York  Electrical  Contractors Association, where, in 1998, he became the
Assistant Executive Secretary -  Manager  of  the  New  York  Electrical
Contractors Association; and
  WHEREAS, Prior to this, Bruce J. DeShay was employed as Chapter Manag-
er  of  the Southern Tier Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors
Association from 1980 to 1985, and Chapter Manager  of  the  Westchester
Fairfield Chapter from 1985 to 1993; and
  WHEREAS,  Bruce J. DeShay has been actively involved in apprenticeship
and educational programs, labor relations,  contract  negotiations,  and
trust  fund  administration;  he  has  represented  the Union Electrical
Industry and contractors on many local and  state  committees,  at  many
public forums, and bodies of arbitration representing contractor members
in  grievances and disputes at labor-management hearings, CIR, NLRB, New
York State Division of Human Rights, State, and Federal Court; and
  WHEREAS, For many years, Bruce J. DeShay served as Secretary/Treasurer
of the New York State Council of NECA Chapters, and has been a member of
the IBEW/NECA New York State Labor-Management Committee since its incep-
tion; and
  WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Bruce J. DeShay served  with  intelli-
gence  and  caring  dedication,  continuously  striving  to  effectively
fulfill the duties of his positions; and
  WHEREAS, Furthermore, Bruce J. DeShay has been  active  on  the  White
Plains  Commons  II  Condominium Board of Directors since 1998, where he
served as both Vice President and President; and
  WHEREAS, Since 2008, he has  been  involved  with  the  St.  Dominic's
Dinner Committee and a Board Member of the Friends of St. Dominic's, the
Electrical  Division  of the Development Corporation for the Israel Bond
and the Electrical Division of the UJA Federation of New York; and
  WHEREAS, Prior to beginning his career with  the  electrical  industry
and  following graduation from George Williams College in 1969, Bruce J.
DeShay was employed as the Assistant Executive Director of the  Bingham-
ton  Boy's Club, Inc. from 1969 until 1972, and as Executive Director of
the Binghamton Boy's and Girl's Club, Inc. from 1972 until 1980; and
  WHEREAS, Sincerely appreciated and greatly respected by all those with
whom he worked, Bruce J. DeShay will  be  remembered  for  his  honesty,
integrity,  keen  sense  of  duty  and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in his official acts; and
  WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of  44  years,  Joyce,
and  their four sons and daughters-in-law, as well as two grandchildren,

all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in  his
achievements; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is the practice of this Legislative Body that when indi-
viduals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all  the  citizens  of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bruce J. DeShay upon the occasion of his retirement, and  to  wish
him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bruce J. DeShay.
