LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kendall Garrett upon the occasion of her
designation as 2013 Valedictorian of Pathways College Preparatory School

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its  long-standing  traditions,  to  honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose  character  and  accomplishments
exemplify  the  ideals  and  values  cherished  by  this great State and
nation; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor  Kendall
Garrett  upon  the  occasion of her designation as 2013 Valedictorian of
Pathways College Preparatory School; and
  WHEREAS, Academically, Kendall Garrett has distinguished herself as  a
young  woman  of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing
standards of excellence and achievement,  purposefulness  of  life,  and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
  WHEREAS,  As  a  Peer  Leader, Kendall Garrett is part of the school's
College Summit Program; she sings in the choir, is a member of the youth
ministry of her church, and for her high PSAT score, she was entered  as
a candidate into the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; and
  WHEREAS,  Kendall  Garrett, a resident of Jamaica, Queens, will attend
Adelphi University in Long Island this Fall; and
  WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Kendall Garrett
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
  WHEREAS, Kendall Garrett may stand with  pride  in  her  achievements,
experiencing  the  satisfaction  of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face  the  challenge  of  new  experiences  as  she
continues her education; and
  WHEREAS, Kendall Garrett represents the potential inherent in our most
precious  resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the  promise  of  her
future; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kendall Garrett upon the  occasion  of  her  designation  as  2013
Valedictorian of Pathways College Preparatory School; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kendall Garrett.
