LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION recognizing Paul Narson upon the occasion of his
designation as a 2013 Veterans Day Distinguished Honoree

WHEREAS, It is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community  service  are  an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
  WHEREAS, Members and former members  of  the  Armed  Services  of  the
United  States  from the State of New York, who have served so valiantly
and honorably in wars in which this country's freedom was at  stake,  as
well  as  in  the preservation of peace in peace time, deserve a special
salute from this Legislative Body; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
Paul Narson upon the occasion of his designation as a 2013 Veterans  Day
Distinguished  Honoree;  this  auspicious occasion will be celebrated on
Veterans Day, November 11, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Paul  Narson  is  the
President  of  the  Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 32, Queens, New
York; he has been a member of the Vietnam Veterans since August 1989 and
President since October 2011; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, Paul Narson is currently a New  York  State  and
national  delegate  with  the  Vietnam  Veterans  of America; he is also
secretary-elect of VFW Post 4787, Whitestone, New York; and
  WHEREAS, A member of the VFW, DAV and American Legion, Paul Narson has
worked tirelessly for the veterans  community  and  the  advancement  of
veterans rights; and
  WHEREAS,  Paul  Narson  served in the United States Army infantry from
1959 through 1965, and in the National  Guard  (Rainbow  Division)  from
1965 to 1967; and
  WHEREAS, During his military service, Paul Narson has been awarded the
Good  Conduct  Medal,  National  Defense  Medal, U.S. Army Expeditionary
Forces Medal, Expert Infantry Badge and the  New  York  State  Medal  of
Merit; and
  WHEREAS,  A current resident of Flushing, New York, Paul Narson worked
in the auto glass industry for many years; and
  WHEREAS, Paul Narson and his wife of 33 years, Marilyn, are the  proud
parents of two children; they have one beloved granddaughter; and
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  the  entire period of his military, professional
and community service, a period of constructive involvement, Paul Narson
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned  the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
  WHEREAS,  Our veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and thanked
by the people of the State of New York for their service and  for  their
dedication; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize Paul Narson upon the occasion of his  designation  as  a  2013
Veterans Day Distinguished Honoree; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Paul Narson.
