LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joe Hage upon his induction into the
Amsterdam Mohawks Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging the
outstanding achievements of its esteemed and talented athletes; and
WHEREAS, Joe Hage will be inducted into the Amsterdam Mohawks Hall of
Fame during a dinner to be held at St. Mary's Institute on February 4,
2012; and
WHEREAS, Joe was a stand-out baseball and football player at Amsterdam
High School from 1971 until 1974; and
WHEREAS, During Joe's junior and senior year, the baseball team won 39
consecutive games and was Sectional Champions in 1973 and 1974; and
WHEREAS, Joe batted an impressive .404 as a sophomore, .448 as a
junior, and .410 as a senior; and
WHEREAS, He also excelled in football, rushing for 1,284 yards in his
senior year; and
WHEREAS, In 1973, Joe was honored with the Thom McAn Award, given to
the top scholastic player in the area, and was named Prep All-American
by COACH AND ATHLETE MAGAZINE; and
WHEREAS, Joe was named RECORDER Player of the Year in 1974; and
WHEREAS, Joe's number 40 is retired by the Rugged Rams; and
WHEREAS, Joe played three seasons for the Southern Illinois Salukis
baseball team, and played professionally for three years; and
WHEREAS, He and his loving wife, Sybelis, are the proud parents of
Joey and Nicole, both also stand-out athletes; and
WHEREAS, Joe currently serves as Vice President and Regional Director
of BB&T Investment Services; and
WHEREAS, Joe's athletic ability and outstanding sportsmanship are an
inspiration to current Mohawk players; and
WHEREAS, Joe's induction into the Amsterdam Mohawks Hall of Fame is a
fitting and lasting tribute to his extraordinary legacy; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joe Hage upon his well-deserved induction into the Amsterdam
Mohawks Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joe Hage.
