LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  John  P.  Pryor posthumously upon the
occasion of his induction into the Shenendehowa Central School  District
Hall of Distinguished Alumni

WHEREAS,  The  State  of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
  WHEREAS, The late John P. Pryor will be inducted into the Shenendehowa
Central School District Hall of Distinguished  Alumni  as  part  of  the
first  class  of  inductees  during the Shenendehowa Educational Founda-
tion's Green and White Gala to be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on  June
8, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, John graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1984; and
  WHEREAS,  He  was  a  respected  trauma surgeon at the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania; and
  WHEREAS, John volunteered  his  expert  services  at  Ground  Zero  on
September 11, 2001; and
  WHEREAS,  He  served  his  country  with  honor as a Major in the Army
Reserve; and
  WHEREAS, John had already completed his first tour in  Iraq,  treating
injured troops, and was in the third week of his second tour when he was
tragically killed during a rocket attack on December 25, 2008; and
  WHEREAS,  His  success  as  a surgeon and his honorable service to his
country will long inspire Shenendehowa students; and
  WHEREAS, His induction into the Hall  of  Distinguished  Alumni  is  a
lasting and fitting tribute to his legacy; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John P. Pryor posthumously as he is inducted into the Shenendehowa
Hall of Distinguished Alumni; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of the late John P. Pryor.
