ATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Parlia- lace Elementary School, North Babylon, New York S, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and d those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose e and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in ucation of the youth of this noble Empire State; and EAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long- ng traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem- the 50th Anniversary of Parliament Place Elementary School, North n, New York; and EAS, In celebration of its five decades of excellence in educa- the students, teachers and parents of the Parliament Place Elemen- chool will host an event on Wednesday, March 21, 2012; and EAS, Parliament Place Elementary School was opened in September of as a K-6 school; the first principal was Richard E. Brown and uently, there have been ten other administrators at the helm of hool, including current principal, Drew E. Olson; and EAS, Parliament Place Elementary School has undergone many changes both a physical and educational perspective; when the school first as the sixth elementary school in the district, the enrollment o high that the school was on a split session; teachers and ts walked on wooden planks to enter the building as construction complete; and EAS, Teachers shared classrooms, and the Scott-Foresman "Sally, nd Jane" reading program was in place; as the years progressed, ilding evolved to include a library/media center, a computer room, writing center; and EAS, For more than a decade, Parliament Place Elementary School en selected as a Suffolk County Reading Council Honor School, and een commended for its community service including its support s local food pantries and nursing homes; its students always have ed at the highest levels and include successful members of all sions and trades; and EAS, Many of the current students at Parliament Place Elementary are second generation students, and some of the current teachers lves were students at the school; today, the school is meeting the logical challenges of the 21st century and the students are uing to meet the academic standards set forth by good pedagogical ces and state mandates; and EAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents, educators ministrators to provide the highest quality education for students come the hallmark and tradition of the Parliament Place Elementary ; and EAS, Within the 21st century, the Parliament Place Elementary stands prepared to reach out, in earnest and enthusiastic quest mission, to promote the maximum growth of every student, estab- g standards and building skills which will carry its students and tizens of its community into the future; now, therefore, be it LVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to orate the 50th Anniversary of the Parliament Place Elementary , North Babylon, New York; and be it further LVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran- d to Drew E.
