LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Cornell University Cooperative
Extension Ulster County upon the occasion of commemorating its centenni-
al celebration on June 1, 2013

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high  achievement  whose  exem-
plary  programs  and  accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Ulster County upon the
occasion of commemorating its centennial  celebration;  this  auspicious
occasion  will  be  celebrated on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Cornell
University Cooperative Extension Ulster County's Education  Center,  232
Plaza Road in the Kingston Plaza; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Cornell  University Cooperative Extension Ulster County
(CCEUC) is a registered non-profit educational organization and part  of
the  Cornell  Cooperative  Extension  land  grant  system, a partnership
between County, State, and Federal governments; and
  WHEREAS, The mission of CCEUC is to enable  people  to  improve  their
lives  and  communities  through  partnerships  that  put experience and
research knowledge to  work;  extension  staff  and  trained  volunteers
deliver  education programs, conduct applied research, and foster commu-
nity collaborations; and
  WHEREAS, Founded in 1913, CCEUC continues to use research based  know-
ledge  through  their  partnership with Cornell University to assist the
residents of Ulster County; and
  WHEREAS, CCEUC offers resources, tools and education through  on-going
community  programming  in  efforts  to improve the lives of a broad and
diverse county population; and
  WHEREAS, The program areas of CCEUC include Agriculture, Horticulture,
4H Youth Development, Family  and  Consumer  Science  and  Environmental
programs; and
  WHEREAS,  CCEUC  works  to extend the educational resources of Cornell
University, the Land  Grant  university  system  and  other  educational
institutions,  to the people of Ulster County to foster economic, social
and environmental improvement of its individuals, families and  communi-
ties; and
  WHEREAS, CCEUC continues to fulfill its laudatory educational purposes
and  is  proudly aware of its distinguished past; it is eager to fulfill
its commitment to its students, faculty, alumni and  community,  and  is
planning  with  vision  and  purpose  for  the growth and change it will
encounter in the years to come; and
  WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a  unique  opportunity  for
this  Legislative  Body  to  recognize  and  pay  tribute to the Cornell
University Cooperative Extension Ulster County; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an  educa-
tional  institution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to
our attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Ulster County
upon the occasion of commemorating its centennial celebration; and be it
further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Ulster County.
