LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION honoring Karen Robinson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of an excellence in music  education  award  by
the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

WHEREAS,  Individuals  who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
  WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take  note  of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and charac-
ter whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State  and  whose  professional  lives, personal endeavors and community
service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues, friends, and
family; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is justly proud to honor
Karen Robinson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient  of  an
excellence  in music education award by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orches-
tra, this auspicious occasion was held at the Orchestra's  annual  Cele-
bration of Music Education Ceremony on Saturday, April 20, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  A resident of Cheektowaga, New York, Karen Robinson has been
a distinguished music educator for 33 years; and
  WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Karen Robinson  has  taught  music  at
Union Elementary School in Cheektowaga, New York; she also teaches chil-
dren's music classes with the Buffalo Suzuki Strings program; and
  WHEREAS,  Karen  Robinson's love of music began as a child; her family
was actively involved in the church choir; she took piano, violin, organ
and singing lessons; and
  WHEREAS, While a student at Westminster Choir  College  in  Princeton,
New  Jersey, Karen Robinson performed with the symphonic choir at Carne-
gie Hall and worked with Aaron Copland; and
  WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her educational and community
service, a period of constructive involvement, Karen Robinson has  stood
constant  in  dignity,  good grace and humor, and has earned the respect
and admiration of her colleagues, friends and family; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that  when  individ-
uals  of  such  noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Karen  Robinson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of an excellence in music education award by  the  Buffalo  Philharmonic
Orchestra; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Karen Robinson.
