LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gail Coleman Kupferberg upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special honor by the Queens Botanical Garden
on June 6, 2013

WHEREAS,  Individuals  who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
  WHEREAS, Gail Coleman Kupferberg has given not only of  her  time  and
energies  but  also  of  her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Gail Coleman
Kupferberg upon the occasion of her designation for special honor by the
Queens Botanical Garden, to be celebrated at its 18th Annual  Rose  Gala
on Thursday, June 6, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Queens Botanical Garden is an urban oasis where people,
plants and cultures are celebrated through inspiring gardens, innovative
educational programs and demonstrations  of  environmental  stewardship;
and
  WHEREAS,  Gail  Coleman Kupferberg graduated magna cum laude from Duke
University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree; she went on  to
receive  her Master of Business Administration degree, with distinction,
from Harvard Business School; and
  WHEREAS, Gail Coleman Kupferberg has held the position of both  Manag-
ing  Director  and  Chief  Financial  Officer of J Fitzgibbons LLC since
2005; prior to joining the firm, she  was  Chief  Financial  Officer  of
Azimuth  Trust Company, and served as Executive Vice-President and Chief
Financial Officer of Khanty Mansiysk Oil Corporation, a  privately  held
oil exploration and production company; and
  WHEREAS,  Gail  Coleman  Kupferberg  is  Chairman of the Board of Safe
Space, a non-profit agency for youth and family  services  in  New  York
City; and
  WHEREAS,  With  her  throughout has been her husband, Saul Kupferberg,
who feels privileged to be a part  of  her  life  and  rejoices  in  her
achievements; and
  WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual  for  the  benefit  of  others  which  Gail  Coleman  Kupferberg has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commend Gail Coleman Kupferberg upon the occasion of her designation for
special  honor by the Queens Botanical Garden on June 6, 2013; and be it
further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gail Coleman Kupferberg.
