LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring the Hunter-Tannersville Central School
District Odyssey of the Mind Team on being named 2013 World Champions

WHEREAS, Education is an organic process which is most  successful  when
it  consists  of formal learning and informal, experiential opportunity;
  WHEREAS, The advancement of the ability of our young people to develop
problem solving skills and engage in creative  thinking  offers  them  a
pathway for reaching their fullest potential; and
  WHEREAS,  The  ability  of  our educational institutions to offer such
opportunities requires the dedicated engagement of  school  faculty  and
administration,  as well as of families, community volunteers and others
willing to give of their time, energy and talent to bring out  the  best
in young people; and
  WHEREAS,  The Hunter-Tannersville Central School District has advanced
many activities and programs aimed at promoting the constructive  growth
of  our  people,  including  participation  in  the  Odyssey of the Mind
Program, which is an international  educational  program  that  provides
creative  problem-solving  opportunities  for students from kindergarten
through college; and
  WHEREAS, Odyssey of the Mind competitions teach  students  cooperation
and  respect for the ideas of others, two valuable skills that will stay
with them for a lifetime; and
  WHEREAS, Team members Troy Bates, William Garrison, Neal Statts, Dylan
Endy, Emily Farrell, along with coaches Rich and Dawn Outtrim, dedicated
countless hours using their knowledge,  skills  and  unique  talents  to
develop  creative solutions to problems presented to them in the Odyssey
of the Mind competition; and
  WHEREAS, Through their diligent efforts, creativity  and  energy,  the
Hunter-Tannersville  Central School District won their division becoming
World Champions after outperforming teams from South  Korea,  Singapore,
Poland, Mexico and teams from across the United States; and
  WHEREAS,   The   people  of  the  Hunter-Tannersville  Central  School
District, Greene County and the State of New York commend them for their
accomplishment and join them in celebrating their success;  now,  there-
fore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the team members, school officials and family members,  and
encourage them to continue their educational pursuits; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted  to  the  Hunter-Tannersville Central School District Odyssey of
the Mind Team.
