LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Malandro upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2012 New York State Baseball Coach of
the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which actions are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Malandro upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2012 New York State Baseball Coach of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Robert Malandro of Hicksville, New York, is the head coach of
the Holy Trinity boys baseball team; he began coaching at Holy Trinity
in 1989; and
WHEREAS, On January 25, 2012, Coach Robert Malandro of the Holy Trini-
ty boys baseball team officially received the 2012 Steve Lembo Memorial
Award as the New York State Baseball Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, With a quarter-century of high school baseball coaching expe-
rience and five Catholic League championships to his credit, Coach
Robert Malandro has been paving the way for successful high school base-
ball players for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, A five-time NSCHSAA Coach of the Year, in 2010 Robert Malan-
dro became the first Catholic League coach to receive the Nassau County
Coach of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Coach Robert Malandro has a deep commitment to supporting
high school athletes and elevating their athletic performance on the
field; he has a true passion for the game and competition, and a
devotion to preserving the integrity of the sport; he is dedicated to
mentoring young athletes both on and off the baseball field; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Malandro upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2012 New York State Baseball Coach of the Year Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Robert Malandro.
