LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Don Anding upon the occasion of being
drafted by the Philadelphia Union soccer club of Major League Soccer

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those exemplary athletes who excel in professional athletics, distin-
guishing themselves through notable achievements and representing the
great Empire State with pride and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Don
Anding upon the occasion of being drafted by the Philadelphia Union
soccer club of Major League Soccer; and
WHEREAS, A 2009 graduate of Chaminade High School and Northeastern
University forward, Don Anding was selected in the second round and No.
26 overall as part of the 2013 Major League Soccer Draft; and
WHEREAS, In the 2012 season, Don Anding was the first Northeastern
NSCAA All-American in program history and the university's first College
Soccer News All-American since 2001; and
WHEREAS, Don Anding also led the CAA in points and goals, was tied for
first in game-winning goals, and was second in assists; and
WHEREAS, Don Anding ranks 11th in the nation in both points per game
(1.67) and total points (35) and was 13th in the country in total goals
(14); and
WHEREAS, In addition, Don Anding was the CAA rookie of the year in
2009, and was the conference's player of the year in 2012; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Chaminade Flyers, Don Anding was a two-
year varsity player, being named one of the team captains in his senior
year; he also helped the Flyers win one of their four state champion-
ships in 2007; and
WHEREAS, A gifted athlete, Don Anding has become a role model in the
sport of soccer; his character and achievements stand as a sterling
example and inspiration to all who would aspire to success; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Don Anding upon the occasion of being drafted by the Philadelphia
Union soccer club of Major League Soccer; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Don Anding.
