LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jillian Parrino upon the occasion of
winning NEWSDAY's Kidsday Drawing contest

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jillian Parrino upon the occasion of winning NEWSDAY's Kidsday Drawing
contest; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Parrino, a fourth-grade student at the Jackson Avenue
School in the Mineola School District, won this illustrious contest for
her drawing which depicted the theme "Hope After Hurricane Sandy"; she
won for the category of Getting Along; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Parrino's drawing was featured in the print edition
of NEWSDAY during the week of December 23, 2012; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Jillian Parrino represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jillian Parrino upon the occasion of winning NEWSDAY's Kidsday
Drawing contest; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jillian Parrino.
