ATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Helen Volpe upon the occasion of ating her 100th Birthday S, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to ncreasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past butions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable to, the fabric of community life and activity; and EAS, Helen Volpe was born on April 10, 1912, in Canandaigua, New and EAS, As a young girl, Helen Volpe worked at her grandfather's y store, the AW Gilbert Jewelry Store; and EAS, In 1943, Helen Volpe assisted in training pilots for the Army rps at Stewart Airfield near Parkersburg, West Virginia; and EAS, Later that year, Helen Volpe was selected as a private secre- o the investigator of the Civil Aeronautics Board; and EAS, At that time, Helen Volpe was flown to Washington, DC, where as met at the airport by Eleanor Roosevelt, who took her back to ite House to meet President Franklin Roosevelt; and EAS, When Helen Volpe returned to Canandaigua, she worked at l banks before opening her own gift store, The Gift Mansion; and EAS, Helen Volpe finished her career as an interior decorator for Allen; and EAS, Imbued with a spirit of adventure, Helen Volpe loves flying; e point, she had her private pilot's license; she met both Amelia t and Chuck Yeager; and EAS, A former member of the Flying Farmers, Helen Volpe wrote an sive article about her trip to Hawaii that was published in the FARMER'S MAGAZINE; and EAS, Today, Helen Volpe enjoys reading and antique shows; she is ery active and enjoys golfing and dancing to Polka music; and EAS, This exceptional centenarian, with her zest for life, has ed and enhanced the lives of her family and friends; and EAS, This distinguished woman has experienced the incredible joys orrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina urage to savor a full life; and EAS, This beloved woman has enriched the lives of those around her h her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent and wisdom which come only from a fullness of years; and EAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog- hose who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed elebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome ements of this country during the last century, while themselves buting to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State; herefore, be it LVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to tulate Helen Volpe upon the occasion of her 100th Birthday; and be ther LVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran- d to Helen Volpe.
