LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Longwood High School Varsity Cheer-
leading Team upon the occasion of winning both the National Championship
and Grand National Championship titles at the World Cheerleading Associ-
ation's 25th Annual national competition

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor the Longwood High
School Varsity Cheerleading Team upon the occasion of winning both the
National Championship and Grand National Championship titles at the
World Cheerleading Association's 25th Annual national competition on
December 27-29, 2009, in Nashville, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, The Longwood High School Varsity Cheerleading Team accrued
the highest cumulative scores for their routines in competition against
other large high school all-girl squads to win the National Championship
title; the Grand National Championship title was awarded to them for
earning the highest score among all the teams in their division, includ-
ing co-ed teams; and
WHEREAS, Loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large, the Longwood High School Varsity
Cheerleading Team have proven themselves to be an unbeatable combination
of athletic and academic talents, reflecting favorably on their communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, The Longwood High School Varsity Cheerleading Team were
comprised of: Heather Accardi, Bianca Benavides, Jenna Cleary, Gemma
Erdmann, Ashley Garguilo, Laura Hedges, Ashley Hennessy, Kristin
Killackey, Taylar Espanet, Angela Gass, Courtney Peters, Kristen
Profige, Ashleigh Jenkins, Christine Romonayske, Taylor Kaiser, Alexa
Sanalitro, Jennifer Lenzi, Jamie Shomer, Leana Schnellenbach, Brittany
Torney, Dana Wells, and Natalie Zalewski; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people who represent their community with pride and determination while
participating in competitive sports are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the great
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Longwood High School Varsity Cheerleading Team upon the occa-
sion of winning both the National Championship and Grand National Cham-
pionship titles at the World Cheerleading Association's 25th Annual
national competition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Longwood High School Varsity Cheerleading Team.
