LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Shelby Schneider upon the occasion of
being named a Top 40 Under 40 by Development Counsellors International

WHEREAS, In the course of the evolving development of this Empire State,
when the ingredients of shared concern and responsive endeavor combine
in commitment to community, there emerge among the distinguished citi-
zenry of the State of New York, certain individuals who warrant special
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Shelby Schneider upon the occasion of being named a Top 40 Under 40 by
Development Counsellors International; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Shelby Schneider is the Director of Marketing and
Economic Development Specialist for the Saratoga Economic Development
Corporation (SEDC) in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, Shelby Schneider joined SEDC in 2001, first administering a
tax incentive program and then working in a support role with the
mission to develop a 1,400- acre technology campus in Malta, New York;
she worked on the team which attracted GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a multi-billion
dollar computer chip manufacturing plant which now employs 1,700 people;
and
WHEREAS, As the Director of Marketing, Shelby Schneider continues to
promote Saratoga County as the premier global location for semiconduc-
tor, clean-tech and nanotech manufacturing, while, at the same time,
working with businesses on their retention and expansion needs; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of Shelby Schneider's efforts of in-depth
magnitude, GLOBALFOUNDRIES as well as Saratoga County as a whole,
garnered media coverage from the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, THE ECONO-
MIST, "ABC World News" with Diane Sawyer, the HUFFINGTON POST, and other
blogs and publications; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout, have been her devoted husband, Evan, who
has stood by her, helping her to balance her career, her family and her
many other responsibilities, and their four beautiful children, Tanner,
Molly and twins, Finn and Jane, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by Shelby
Schneider; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Shelby Schneider upon the occasion of being named a Top 40 Under
40 by Development Counsellors International; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Shelby Schneider.
