LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Andy  Sachs  upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition at the 28th Annual Ralph J.  Sansone
Endowment Scholarship Dinner on May 14, 2014

WHEREAS,  New  York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  acknowledge  the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental  in  developing  character  and  academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Andy
Sachs  upon  the  occasion of his designation for special recognition at
the 28th Annual Ralph J. Sansone Endowment Scholarship Dinner on Wednes-
day, May 14, 2014, at Sirico's, Brooklyn, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Andy Sachs has been teaching art and motivating students  for
28  years;  he  graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and earned
both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Brooklyn College; and
  WHEREAS, Inspired to paint by his grandfather and  encouraged  by  his
parents,  Andy Sachs has taught painting, drawing, photography, Photosh-
op, guitar, electronic band, and has produced 26 yearbooks for both John
Jay and his current home for the  past  19  years,  Fort  Hamilton  High
School;  he  has been coaching the Fort Hamilton Boys Tennis Team for 10
years; and
  WHEREAS,  An  accomplished  realistic,  acrylic  painter,  Andy  Sachs
specializes  in  nostalgia, Brooklyn themes, food, and has been featured
on the web as well as in shows throughout the local community; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, with a passion for music, Andy Sachs is the lead
vocalist of his band, 3 Sheets to the Wind NYC, and plays the guitar  in
a Rock and Blues Trio; and
  WHEREAS,  With him throughout have been his fiancee, Lisa, and his two
children, Valerie and Jesse, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
  WHEREAS, Educators like Andy Sachs provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young people in
their educational journeys and ensuring their success  in  their  future
years; and
  WHEREAS, Andy Sachs has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth of
the Fort Hamilton High School, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly  merits  recognition  and  applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of  this  Legislative  Body  to  commend  the
efforts  of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to  our  schools;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Andy Sachs upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition at the 28th Annual Ralph J. Sansone Endowment Scholarship Dinner,
and to wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be
it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Andy Sachs.
