LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Michael George Lug, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael George Lug of Cornwall, New York, died on Saturday,
January 12, 2013, at the age of 64; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 4, 1948 Michael George Lug was the son of the
late George Franklyn Lug and Barbara Ann Mueller; he graduated from St.
Thomas School in Cornwall in 1962, Cornwall Central High School in 1966
and Marist College in 1970, after which he taught math and science at
Sacred Heart School in Newburgh; and
WHEREAS, Michael George Lug spent the rest of his career at Cornwall
Central Middle School as a math and computer teacher; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Michael George Lug graduated from Orange County
Police Academy and served as a part-time police officer in Cornwall-on-
Hudson and Marlboro and as a Court Officer for the Marlboro court; and
WHEREAS, Michael George Lug was a certified NYS DCJS OPS
Instructor/Evaluator (general topics, auto crimes and insurance fraud,
Radar/Lidar, aerosol restraint, DWI detection & SFST, conductive energy
device, domestic violence) and TASER International TASER instructor; and
WHEREAS, Michael George Lug's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Michael George Lug was active in Little Leag-
ue, Boy Scout Troop 17 of Newburgh and Troop 258 of Cornwall, was a
dispatcher for the New Windsor Police Department and also was on the New
Windsor Police Auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, Michael George Lug is survived by his wife of 42 years,
Jeanne Marquis; sons, Jeremy (Jean) and Matthew (Janis Kenderdine);
grandsons, James and Andrew; brothers, Raymond (Teresa) and George
(Helen); aunt, Anna LaRusso; nieces, nephew, and many cousins; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Michael George Lug leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Michael George Lug, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Michael George Lug.
