LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emer-
gency Department upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2012 Michelle Martin Memorial Award from the Albany County Stop-DWI
Program

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions of distinction whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of
others; and
WHEREAS, Our hospitals serve the vital purpose of providing for the
healthcare needs of our citizens through excellence in the delivery of
medical services; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Albany Medical
Center Hospital's Emergency Department upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of the 2012 Michelle Martin Memorial Award from the
Albany County Stop-DWI Program; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award recognized the emergency department
for its outstanding care of DWI victims and their families; established
in 1981, the Albany County Stop-DWI Program serves to educate the commu-
nity regarding the dangers of impaired driving; and
WHEREAS, As the region's only level one trauma center and the busiest
trauma center in New York state, Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emer-
gency Department staff regularly deal with the trauma caused by DWI
accidents; and
WHEREAS, These recent achievements reflect the overall outstanding
quality of care patients receive from the professional and knowledgeable
leadership and staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emergency
Department; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of
Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emergency Department in providing
excellence in care through prevention, education and treatment, and its
evident commitment to this mission; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emergency Department upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2012 Michelle Martin
Memorial Award from the Albany County Stop-DWI Program; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Albany Medical Center Hospital's Emergency Department.
