LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring S. Gerald Davidson upon the occasion of
his retirement

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor S.
Gerald Davidson upon the occasion of his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Officially retiring at the end of December 2012, S. Gerald
Davidson is a founding partner of the firm, Davidson Fink LLP of Roches-
ter, New York, which was created in 1968; he is recognized as one of the
"Best Lawyers in America"; his leadership and sense of community have
been infused throughout the firm, and he has been instrumental in its
growth and success over the years; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Davidson's legal practice focuses on counseling
clients in the areas of matrimonial, family and collaborative family
law; he recognizes the importance of providing superior services and
offers significant experience in the area of collaborative family law;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davidson has successfully litigated cases throughout
Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Steuben and Wayne Counties; and
WHEREAS, Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Rochester in 1952, Gerald Davidson earned his LL.B. degree from
Cornell Law School in 1955; that same year, he was admitted to the New
York State Bar; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Gerald Davidson is affiliated with
numerous organizations, including: the Monroe County Bar Association,
the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the
American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Collaborative Law Associ-
ation of the Rochester Area, Inc., the International Academy of Collabo-
rative Professionals, the Town of Brighton Board of Appeals, the Jewish
Home of Rochester, and the New York Super Lawyers; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect, and commitment as that demonstrated by
Gerald Davidson over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor S. Gerald Davidson upon the occasion of his retirement; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to S. Gerald Davidson.
