LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Gino M. Zando, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando died on Friday, January 25, 2013, at the age of
82; and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando was a graduate of Augustinian Academy in Carthage,
New York, and was employed for 47 years in various positions at St.
Regis/Champion; and
WHEREAS, From 1978 until 1982, Gino Zando served as Mayor of Deferiet,
New York, joining the board of legislators in 1996, where he served his
county for 16 years, retiring in 2011; and
WHEREAS, As a legislator, Gino Zando chaired the Health and Human
Services Committee, and was a member of four oversight committees and a
number of ad hoc committees; and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando also served as President of the Carthage area
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando is remembered as an elder statesman of the county
legislature, and someone who could always be counted on, who also
possessed a lively sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man distinguished himself by his sincere
dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of his community;
and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando is survived by his wife, the former JoAnn Lynn
Reed, and his two sons, Craig and Christopher; and
WHEREAS, Gino Zando leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the
passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served
and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Gino Zando, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Gino M. Zando.
