LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Nick Ramos in acknowledgement of his
heroic and lifesaving actions

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the courage, calm and bravery of those remarkable young people
who perform heroic acts, taking prompt and appropriate action in emer-
gency situations in an effort to preserve the safety and property; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Nick
Ramos in acknowledgement of his heroic and lifesaving actions; and
WHEREAS, Nine year-old Nick Ramos was eating lunch at Jackson Avenue
Elementary School when he noticed his friend was choking on a carrot;
and
WHEREAS, Using his training from his four years in the Cub Scouts,
Nick Ramos went to the immediate aid of his friend and was able to
dislodge the carrot and ultimately save his friend's life; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional young man should be meritoriously commended
for remaining calm under pressure and for showing valor and true courage
while performing a noble and lifesaving deed; and
WHEREAS, Through his spontaneous and heroic actions, Nick Ramos demon-
strated his character and his compassion for the welfare of others,
personifying, by virtue of his actions, the collective concern of ordi-
nary citizens across the community of New York State who voluntarily
respond when others are in need of help; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nick Ramos in acknowledgement of his heroic and lifesaving
actions; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nick Ramos.
