LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sujith Maracheril upon the occasion of
being named a Finalist in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sujith Mara-
cheril, a senior and Valedictorian of the Class of 2013 upon the occa-
sion of her graduation from Mineola High School and her designation as a
Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program; and
WHEREAS, The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic compe-
tition for recognition and scholarships which began in 1955; high school
students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary
SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), a test
which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants
each year, and by meeting published program entry and participation
requirements; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Sujith Mara-
cheril has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Sujith Maracheril may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishment, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she contin-
ues her education; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sujith Maracheril upon the occasion of being named a Finalist in
the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sujith Maracheril.
