LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kathleen Jans-Duffy upon the occasion of
her designation as Woman of the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coali-
tion

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kathleen Jans-Duffy upon the occasion of her designation as Woman of the
Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition; this auspicious occasion
will be celebrated at a dinner to be held in her honor on Saturday,
March 2, 2013, at the Hotel Clarence in Seneca Falls, New York; and
WHEREAS, A native of Seneca Falls, New York, Kathleen Jans-Duffy is a
Town of Tyre justice and has been an integral member of the staff at the
Seneca Falls Historical Society for over 11 years; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Kathleen Jans-Duffy is President and long time
member of the "It's A Wonderful Life Committee"; she is the past Presi-
dent and member of the Board of Directors of the Seneca Falls Rotary
Club; and
WHEREAS, A past committee member of the Canal Festival, Convention
Days, and Celebrate '98, Kathleen Jans-Duffy is the past President of
the Seneca County Magistrates and Court Clerks Association; she is also
a volunteer for BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport); and
WHEREAS, Kathleen Jans-Duffy is a member of the Seneca County Arts
Council and the National Women's Hall of Fame, where she has served as
an ambassador for the induction ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, A long time Apheresis donor for the Red Cross, Kathleen Jans-
Duffy has also volunteered for Jazz Fest, Empire Farm Days, Swedish Hill
cook outs and the new Chocolate Extravaganza event; and
WHEREAS, Married to John Duffy in 1988, Kathleen Jans-Duffy is the
loving stepmother of Patty and Patrick; she has two wonderful grandchil-
dren, Alex and Bella; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Kathleen Jans-Duf-
fy; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Kathleen Jans-Duffy
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kathleen Jans-Duffy has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kathleen Jans-Duffy upon the occasion of her designation as Woman
of the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kathleen Jans-Duffy.
