LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Monsignor William Breslawski upon the
occasion of celebrating his final public Mass as Pastor of Our  Lady  of
Peace on June 22, 2014

WHEREAS,  The  character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit  their  energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition  and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is  justly  proud  to  honor  Monsignor
William  Breslawski  upon  the  occasion of celebrating his final public
Mass as Pastor of Our Lady of Peace; this  momentous  occasion  will  be
held  on  Sunday, June 22, 2014, followed by a Reception in his honor in
the Father Larry Penzes Auditorium, Lynbrook, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Monsignor William Breslawski  is  being  recognized  for  his
exemplary  work and commitment to his community, which serves to empower
others; and
  WHEREAS, Serving more than three decades in  the  ministry,  Monsignor
William  Breslawski will take his leave of Our Lady of Peace after serv-
ing as its Pastor since November of 2002; and
  WHEREAS, True to his spirit of making himself available to  people  in
need, Monsignor William Breslawski answered the call when Bishop William
Murphy  asked  him  in early September of 2002 to lead a parish that was
recovering from the shock of losing its pastor and parishioner; and
  WHEREAS, Monsignor William Breslawski came to Our Lady of Peace  after
spending  15  years  as one of the Founding Pastors of the Parish of the
Holy Cross in Nesconset; he came to Our Lady of Peace with the knowledge
and experience needed to be in a one-priest parish; and
  WHEREAS, The  understanding,  warmth,  and  sensitivity  of  Monsignor
William  Breslawski  has helped the parish community through its losses,
and guided Our Lady of Peace in becoming a better and more loving commu-
nity; and
  WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Monsignor William Breslawski,
the Ministries and programs of Our Lady of Peace have  grown  in  number
and strength, thus providing the support he needed to run and pastor the
people  of  this  parish  community; he prepares to leave the parish and
move to Rocky Point where he will assume the pastor's  position  of  St.
Anthony of Padua; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend  that  indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Monsignor William Breslawski upon the occasion of celebrating  his
final  public  Mass  as  Pastor  of  Our Lady of Peace on June 22, 2014,
noting his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service
to God, man, and his community; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Monsignor William Breslawski.
