LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to recognize and pay tribute to
those individuals of firm belief and commitment who have devoted their
purposeful lives to the service of faith and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob on Sunday, June 2, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Shor has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless endeavors on behalf of Congregation Beth Abraham-
Jacob and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Shor is a past president of the synagogue and a
community advocate; she has long been a pillar of the Capital Region
Jewish Community, a lifetime CBAJ board member who has served in every
leadership post of the synagogue, including three separate terms as
president; and
WHEREAS, A leader of the youth committee and a contributor in building
the shul's connection to the National Conference of Synagogue Youth
(NCSY), Beverly Shor has committed her professional life's work to the
Jewish community; and
WHEREAS, Beverly Shor nurtured and cared for numerous children for
many years at a time when there were few options for working parents;
for the past 20 years, she worked for the Vaad Hakashruth of the Capital
District which provides kosher supervision and certification to Capital
District not-for-profit and commercial food establishments, currently
managing the office; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Beverly Shor has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Beverly Shor has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Beverly Shor upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Congregation Beth Abraham-Jacob; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Beverly Shor.
